Autumn is a time of beautiful colors, cool breezes, and refreshing rain showers. For electric cargo bike owners, we understand autumn may also bring some challenges. Whether you use your Urban Arrow bike for your daily commute or simply enjoy a relaxed ride through the park, being prepared for seasonal changes is crucial. This autumn may bring chilly, wet days and plenty of leaves on the road.

Maintaining your Urban Arrow cargo bike during this fall

To transport your kids worry-free from A to B, safety and comfort are of utmost importance. We’re here to help you get your cargo bike autumn-ready! Follow these maintenance tips to ensure your Urban Arrow bike delivers the smoothest rides!

Thorough cleaning
Ensure your bike is regularly cleaned. Start by removing the battery, then wipe off the large chunks of dirt. Clean the bike with soapy water and finally dry it with a cloth. Be careful not to get the battery and motor too wet to avoid water damage at the battery connection.

Check the tires
Inspect the tires for wear and possible damage. Ensure they are inflated to the right pressure for optimal performance and safety. The correct pressure ranges from 2 to 4 bar, with the perfect pressure for the smoothest ride being 2.5 bar for the front and 3.5 bar for the rear tire.

Lubricate the chain/belt drive and sprocket
Keep the chain/belt drive and gears well-lubricated to ensure smooth rides and to prevent wear and tear.

Protect the battery
Make sure the battery stays dry and is stored at the right temperature.

Check the brakes
Ensure the brake discs are clean as leaves and dirt can get stuck in them. Regularly test the brakes to ensure they function properly.

Check the lights
Ensure the lights are in good working condition for safety in low visibility.

Store your bike preferably indoors
Keep your electric cargo bike in a dry, covered place to prevent weather-related damage. If storing the bike indoors isn’t possible, your Urban Arrow dealer can provide you with an Urban Arrow bike parka.

Regular maintenance
Schedule regular maintenance to extend your bike’s lifespan and avoid issues. We advise at least one annual check-up, but a biannual check is best, ideally right before and after winter.
