Finally, the sunny days are coming. We are sure you cannot wait to take your Urban Arrow to go on endless summer adventures. The heat can, however, be tough on your bike battery. Because we want to keep your journeys smooth and joyful, we would like to share some easy tips to make sure your Urban Arrow is ready to handle the heat.
Summer battery care at a glance
Parking outside: Chase the shade or take the battery inside. This simple step prevents severe thermal damage.
Riding in a heatwave: Slow down and choose a moderate speed. This reduces internal strain and extends your riding range.
Charging your bike: Let the battery cool down to room temperature before plugging it in. This protects its long life.

The shadow is your best friend
Did you know that your battery loves a place in the shadows? A shady spot allows your battery to cool down naturally and makes sure that it does not get damaged. Are all spots taken? No worries, because you can easily disconnect the battery on your Urban Arrow and take it indoors with you. This brings us to our second piece of advice.

Take your precious battery with you
If you will not be using your bike for an extended period of time, we recommend removing your Bosch battery completely. Especially during a heatwave, it is wise to take your battery indoors. Direct summer heat can quickly increase the internal temperature of the battery, which results in a shortened battery life.

Top up early, don't run on empty
When the summer temperatures rise, try your best not to run your battery completely down to 0%. Even if you have only traveled a short distance, getting into the habit of recharging the battery when it rests will significantly extend its overall lifespan.

Slow down and save power
Last but not least, on extreme warm days we all need to slow down, and that includes your battery. Avoid riding too fast in extreme temperatures to reduce strain on the battery cells. Choose a moderate speed to prevent overheating and prolong your overall battery life.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do if my battery gets overheated?

What if the battery does not cool down after resting?
If the battery does not cool down after a period of time, do not try to ride with it or plug it in. Take it straight to your local dealer or a battery specialist so they can help you check if the battery can still be safely used.
