To start off, can you tell us a bit about who you are and what Mojo Maté is all about?
When Lars was backpacking through South America in 2020, he couldn’t help but notice it everywhere: people walking around with a gourd in one hand and a thermos of hot water in the other. Maté in its purest form. Back home in the Netherlands, he and his best friend David got to work in the kitchen, turning that traditional tea into a refreshing drink with natural caffeine.

Fast forward three years and Mojo Maté is now on the shelves of most supermarkets, giving fans creative energy and showing up at plenty of festivals. And Lars and David? They’re not doing it alone anymore. The team is growing right along with the good vibes.

What led you to choose an electric cargo bike?
We love doing samplings at cool spots that are hard to reach by car. So a cargo bike was the perfect solution. But when your box is full of cans, willpower alone won’t get you far. A bit of pedal assist definitely comes in handy. And when you think electric cargo bike, you think Urban Arrow, a brand that’s earned its reputation and one you can rely on without a doubt.

You’ve got two bikes, an L and an XL. How are they used within your company?
We use the bikes for pretty much everything around Amsterdam. For samplings, but also when we need to drop something off or head to a meeting in the city center. A bike is often faster here, and way more chill, than a car.

On a sales day, David hops on the XL. Route mapped out, box full of Mojo, and off he goes. He cycles all over the city, convincing cafés and bars that Mojo Maté deserves a spot on their menu. By the end of the day, he comes back smiling, with an empty battery and the relief of not having spent hours stuck in traffic.

And those wrapped bikes really stand out. Especially when they ride side by side, two full-on color explosions coming your way. People turn their heads or ask about them. It’s an instant conversation starter.

What’s your experience been like with the Urban Arrow Cargo L and XL?
For samplings and events, having two bikes is super handy: one loaded with full cans and one for the empties. Whether we take the L or the XL doesn’t really matter. They both fit so much that we rarely fill them completely. Despite their size, the bikes are really easy to handle. The L especially cruises through the city center with ease. The steering and pedal assist work perfectly, the brakes are strong, and the bikes feel solid. You’re basically gliding down the bike lane.

Lars swears by the Urban Arrows now. He rides them everywhere. It’s just faster than driving in Amsterdam with all the roadblocks and traffic jams. David uses his weekly for his tours through the city, from West to East, through South and back to West.

And the rest of the team? They love hopping on the bikes too for samplings or meetings in the city center. It’s the best way to breeze past traffic and still show up on time.

What role does the Urban Arrow play in your brand’s story? How does it help you get your message across?
We’re basically a moving billboard. Since we had the bikes fully wrapped in Mojo branding, there’s no way people can miss us. Wherever we show up, it’s instantly clear who we are. Plus, Urban Arrow’s values align perfectly with ours: sustainable, flexible, and always on the move. The bikes literally bring us closer to people. They make our story tangible.

Would you recommend these bikes to other entrepreneurs?
Absolutely. The bikes are perfect for getting around the busy city quickly. We chose the cargo models because their shape fits perfectly with the design we had in mind, on top of being super practical. It’s just so handy to have a bike that can carry everything you need and locks up securely, especially if you’re regularly delivering products to customers.

And finally, what’s been your favorite moment with the Urban Arrow?
One time my colleague Sebas and I were riding through downtown Amsterdam, he on the XL and me on the L, cruising through the city with the sun on our faces. At every red light, people asked about the bikes, which turned into mini conversations. We took a few wrong turns, which had us cracking up, especially when we ended up right in the middle of Dam Square with those two huge bikes. It felt more like a mini road trip than a regular ride, and we arrived at our destination with big smiles on our faces.
