Can you talk briefly about Bakery Wolf and how you operate on a daily basis?

We started Bakery Wolf as a restaurant and bakery on the Wolvenstraat. Due to the high demand for our bakery products, both from our customers and catering establishments, we have now opened a spacious production location with a shop on the Rozengracht.
At the Wolvenstraat, guests can visit our restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks, or take away something tasty from our shop. In our shop on the Rozengracht, you can see our bakers at work and take home fresh bread, viennoiserie and coffee.

Before your switch to Urban Arrow electric cargo bike, how was transport done?

Transport used to be unnecessary, as production and sales took place at one fixed location. Back then, we had few catering customers because of our limited production capacity, and the customers we did have were often located nearby and collected their orders directly from the bakery. We did know right away that we needed an electric cargo bike to deliver our products to our customers very efficiently.

What were the biggest challenges you encountered regarding transport?

Besides the cargo bike, we also use a courier service for larger orders. We make several trips between Wolf’s two locations every day, when products are almost sold out, for example. In addition, we can deliver small orders to restaurants nearby directly ourselves, without standing in traffic jams or looking for a loading and unloading spot. It gives us enormous flexibility and can also help our customers out last-minute.

What were the decisive factors for choosing an electric cargo bike?

The cargo bike comes in especially handy because our locations are right in the centre of Amsterdam, on the canals. With a cargo bike, we are maneuverable, much faster than a car and also advertise because of the nicely stickered cargo box.

The biggest advantages are: agile and faster than a car, saving courier rides, being able to offer last-minute deliveries to our customers,and all staff can use it. It allows us to be at our other location within 5 minutes, to replenish sold-out croissants, for example!
